Coastal Wetlands Reduce Flood Damage Saving Millions

coastalwetlandsstudyuscreportScientists from the University of California have released a study quantifying the value of natural protection on property and infrastructure in terms of reduced damages.  The study ‘Coastal Wetlands and Flood Damage Reduction’ combined modeling, engineering and insurance data from 2012’s Hurricane Sandy, finding that more than “$625 million in property damages were prevented during this natural catastrophe by coastal wetlands along the Northeast coast.”   >Read More
