As is the case with many of us working in conservation, much of E.O. Wilson’s childhood was spent wandering in the outdoors. At 92-years-old, the Pulitzer Prize winning biologist, who passed away recently, indeed spent a lifetime studying the natural world. In his 2016 book, Half Earth: Our Planet’s Fight for Life, Wilson advocated for setting aside half the world’s land and water for nature.
