Livingston, MT – February 18, 2019 – Trout Headwaters, Inc. She recently worked as an intern with the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, where she studied the identification of native and invasive species in Virginia, as well as methods for data collection and management.

“I have been with American Conservation Experience for a year now working on restoration projects throughout the Southeast,” said Martin, “and I am so excited to be working as an ACE EPIC intern with Trout Headwaters, Inc. Wetlands are so valuable for so many reasons. They provide habitats to thousands of species and are part of such unique ecosystems. I am dedicated to restoring our wetlands and natural resources for the benefit of the flora, fauna, and many generations to come.”

The fellowship program is intended for enthusiastic young professionals with a deep interest in advancing their career goals in natural resources, plant ecology, riparian/wetland ecology and restoration, forestry, fluvial geomorphology, hydrology, and/or wildlife management.  The program is intended to foster creative thinking and adaptive management as well as support performance for a suite of interdisciplinary tasks.

“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Claire to the team. I have no doubt that her contributions will be valuable in driving successful outcomes for our ecological restoration projects. In a day where the challenges to our environment may feel a bit daunting, the next generation of conservation stewards and scientists, dedicated professionals like Claire, could not be more vital,” said Michael Sprague, CEO of Trout Headwaters, Inc.

American Conservation Experience constantly strives to serve as a bridge between academia and careers.  “We do this by assessing the educational and experiential backgrounds of interns and fellows such as Claire,” said Kevin Sloan of ACE-EPIC, “and by connecting them with rewarding careers as natural resource stewards. Claire’s involvement with Trout Headwaters on these projects is a dream come true for her and a step closer to a rewarding career in restoration.”
