Trout Headwaters, Inc. (THI) was recently honored to deliver the keynote address at the Environmental Law Institute’s (ELI) annual National Wetlands Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. THI Vice President/Development Luke Frazza addressed the 28th annual awards ceremony held on Capitol Hill that was attended by a wide range of conservation-minded individuals from federal, state, and local government, NGOs, and the private sector.
Frazza, whose environmental business portfolio includes cultivating new public-private partnerships, has worked closely with ELI. He told those gathered that THI has long regarded ELI as “… a trusted voice in the environmental industry, consistently advocating for innovative, just, and practical law and policy. It also does the vital service of bringing us all together – a wide range of environmental stakeholders – for inspirational events like this reception.”
After praising the award recipients, Frazza recounted how THI had shared technologies, white papers, and outreach with the public and the restoration industry, had worked with the Army Corps of Engineers to build sustainable techniques for stream restoration, and has been helping train young adults in conservation corps nationwide to be our next generation of conservation stewards. “We created all these partnerships” Frazza said, “because we know there is no shortage of environmental challenges and these challenges need all our tools, all of our planning, and definitely all our commitment”.
ELI Vice President Jay Pendergrass took the opportunity to announce that starting next year, the National Wetland Awards will include a new “Private-Sector Restoration” award in recognition of what he described as “the important work that the private sector does in the protection and restoration of wetlands.”
