May 11, 2016

Jeffrey D. Klein, executive director of the Department of Interior’s Natural Resource Investment Center (NRIC), delivered the keynote speech today at the National Mitigation & Ecosystem Banking Conference (NMEBC) in Ft. Worth, Texas. NMEBC is the ecosystem market and restoration industry’s most influential annual gathering.

Klein has been tasked by Interior Secretary Jewell with creating innovative public-private opportunities that will help stretch government restoration budgets. The NRIC’s mission is to help facilitate vital energy and development projects by enlisting private investment capital to help fund natural resource projects.

Klein discussed the importance of private investment in conservation and specifically referenced recent successful meetings at the White House with private restoration investment companies.
