A New “Inconvenient Truth”

October 25, 2016

Reviews are consistently ‘two thumbs up’ for actor Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant) and director Fisher Stevens’s (The Cove and Racing Extinction) latest project ‘Beyond the Flood’.  This view into our ‘Inconvenient Truth‘ and the lives of a growing population of climate refugees, underlines the need for immediate action in adapting for climate resilience, and for decreasing our reliance on fossil fuels.  It also begs that we restore forests, streams, and other natural features to help mitigate the environmental damage humans are causing.  These challenges will not be solved by government alone.

This past spring, Trout Headwaters was honored to participate in a White House Roundtable on Conservation to discuss ways that private investment might work to restore rivers, wetlands and other natural resources across the U.S.  Of course, these projects not only help to restore hydrology and species habitats, but also to improve our climate-resilience and create carbon sinks to help absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

In 2016, for our 21st year, Trout Headwaters, its customers and partners, have been working to effectively move restoration projects to ground.  As we projected in Washington in March, many new projects and new products are in production. There’s an expression attributed to Confucius which reads ‘People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.’  As I look at all our team has been fortunate to achieve this year, I agree.
