At Trout Headwaters (THI) we have built and maintained a “customer-first” philosophy for more than 28 years. As a technology-enabled services firm, THI specializes in the creation, restoration, enhancement, and management of rivers, streams, lakes, wetlands and wildlife habitats.
But considering our firm’s fortuitous beginnings, we really couldn’t have done it any other way. You see, THI first started with a customer. For any business having a customer before it officially offered products or services would be unusual, but ours enjoyed such fortune. From that first walk with a property owner we developed a process that became the backbone of THI's turn-key approach to stream, river and wetland restoration and repair. Having a customer before we had a business has served THI well. We didn’t have a preconceived idea of what we would do for our customer, which gave us special insight into the importance of the customer’s needs, wishes and dreams. From our first customer, our “customer-first” philosophy has directed our firm, its products, and its processes.
We’ve listened carefully to the many hundreds of men and women who have supported the company as customers, employees and affiliates, letting their combined vision, goals and expertise guide our initiatives and stand to the challenges.

Our Approach
For nearly three decades, Trout Headwaters has deployed holistic, cost-effective and sustainable approaches to ecological restoration. An early project regulator remarked that we were using "Johnny Willowseed" techniques for our projects. Those approaches, among a broad pallette, have been brought to bear on some 550 projects – for many hundreds of clients – across the U.S.
