Exciting peer-reviewed research findings just published by PLOS ONE “Estimating the Size and Impact of the Ecological Restoration Economy” by BenDor et al., provide a solid view inside the sector and dispel the notion promoted by some that environmental programs stymie business. Presently larger than the Coal Industry or Logging or Iron/Steel, the Restoration Economy in 2014 yielded more than 126,000 direct U.S. jobs with a gross output of nearly $10 Billion. Looking more widely at the overall annual U.S. economic impact, the research shows approximately 221,000 jobs with a gross domestic output value of $25 Billion in that year.
These are big numbers and the report is making big news as it is released amid fierce public debate over environmental regulations that require environmental restoration. >Read More via PLOS ONE
