Luke Frazza, Trout Headwaters (THI) Vice President for Development met with key regulators and others in Washington recently as part of the National Mitigation Banking Association annual fly-in. Frazza, along with other companies in the restoration industry, attended meetings with various congressional representatives, agency leaders, and committee staffers in support of mitigation and conservation projects for THI clients across the U.S.
“Because our industry is highly regulated, I believe these discussions are are helpful at smoothing the regulatory path for our ecological restoration projects,” Frazza said. “With so many federal agencies’ renewing their focus on streamlining environmental permits, we think the timing is right for government to identify policies and practices to enable stream, wetland and habitat restoration projects to get to ground quicker and more efficiently.”
Being based in Washington for the last 30 years has given Frazza a good understanding of how government does business, and his many relationships have allowed him to help educate decision makers about the restoration industry and some of the challenges we face.
