Chesapeake Bay Journal writer Whitney Pipkin posts an interesting story recently about the use of treated wastewater for use on fields and in cooling towers for power generation in areas like Fairfax County, VA.  This is water that otherwise would be processed at significant cost and then discharged back to the Potomac River.  Water reuse, and the infrastructure to support distribution for recycled water will ultimately prove cost effective to consumers, according the to the story saving as much as 25% over the costs of conventional potable water for these applications.  Reuse is a way to help with issues around nutrient discharge and could prove invaluable in drought-stricken areas like California.  >Read More
