Researchers: U.S. May See Rains Increase By 400%

February 23, 2018

A study by Climate Central points to a dramatic increase in extreme downpours in the U.S. by the end of the 21st century. The study appeared in the journal Nature Climate Change and suggests that storms that now occur about once a season, could happen as much as five times a season, a 400% increase, by century’s end. This increase in rain will put a substantial strain on infrastructure as we have already seen in places from Louisiana to West Virginia.

The study’s co-author, Andreas Prein believes “this is one of the most severe consequences of climate change, at least in the US”
