Restoring the Great Waters

December 11, 2009

An alliance of some 30 national, regional, state, and local organizations have launched a new coalition to protect, preserve, and restore America’s great waters.

The Great Waters Coalition is intending to make restoration a national priority and secure long-term sustainable funding for these efforts in high priority watersheds across the United States.  Historically, these restoration initiatives had been fighting each other for many of the “same fiscal crumbs” in Congress.  The broad-based alliance includes groups in Coastal Louisiana, Chesapeake Bay, the Everglades, the Great Lakes, the Gulf of Maine, Long Island Sound, Puget Sound, the Mississippi River, and San Francisco Bay.  Read More or Join the Coalition
