Michael Sprague of Trout Headwaters, Inc. was recently returned to the Board of Directors where he will continue to serve as a Founding Board Member for the National Environmental Banking Association
(NEBA).
Based in Washington, D.C., NEBA represents small businesses committed to high standards for ecological restoration and preservation of our wetlands and natural habitats through the use of environmental banks.
Sprague is a recent Past-President of the National Mitigation Banking Association (NMBA) where he served for many years on the Board of Directors. He also formerly served on the steering committee for the National Mitigation & Environmental Banking Conference. Through his company, Trout Headwaters, he has a long history in the environmental banking and ecological restoration industry.
NEBA’s newest 11-member Board is being led by former Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works), the Honorable John Paul Woodley.
“I believe our industry remains at a crossroad,” Sprague said. “We can either let special interests undo all the progress mitigation and conservation bankers have made over the past 20-plus years, or we can continue to work with regulators and the business community to educate all about the economic and ecological benefits of high quality environmental banks.”
By working with policy-makers and our membership, NEBA will continue to educate the next generation of conservation stewards. Our association plans to build further consensus around private-sector solutions and broader involvement in implementing environmental mitigation in a manner that supports economic growth.
