This important study aggregated data from the US Army Corps of Engineers’ received under FOIA for fiscal years 2008-2017. The data was analyzed to determine impacts recorded by the agency to rivers and streams in Wyoming and any mitigation that may have been required under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
In summary, the data show that losses are fast mounting for Wyoming’s streams and rivers, and that mitigation for impacts to these resources is rarely if ever required.
Despite the federal goal of ‘no net loss’ and the long-standing requirements of the Clean Water Act, this state state suffered unmitigated impacts to stream and riparian function along nearly 900,000 linear feet of its waterways between 2008 and 2017.
