The Washington Post just ran a story about new analysis that found, in the past seven years, not a single project has been halted or extensively changed as a result of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Section 7 which requires federal agencies to “consult with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or the National Marine Fisheries Service before moving forward with any form of development that they fund, authorize or carry out.”

The analysis, conducted by employees of the environmental advocacy group Defenders of Wildlife and published by the peer-reviewed journal “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences”, debunks the argument that this section of the ESA is a hindrance to economic growth. You can read more in Chelsea Harvey’s This story just undermined a huge myth about the Endangered Species Act.
