USA Today reports that higher than average summer temperatures and patchy rainfall over the summer contributed to one of the worst wildfire seasons on record, a level of devastation unseen since 1960. Exceptional drought conditions have raised concerns for California and other states continuing to experience serious drought. The kind of water shortage, they report, that happens only once a century.
