In a recent blog post on Patagonia’s blog “the Cleanest Line”, Ross Purnell talked about efforts to stop the slaughter, and stem the loss of habitat for Taimen in Mongolia. Ross suggests the best way to do that is to teach more Mongolians how to fly fish, or at least show them how fly fishing can support their local communities and rivers.
Trout Headwaters agrees, that’s why we helped fund a Taimen conservation project launched in 2011 that radio tagged the giant game fish so researchers could help educate local fisherman and guides about healthy catch and release techniques.
Trout Headwaters will join the Patagonia Company next month at the First Annual Texas Fly Fishing & Brew Festival! when our CEO Mike Sprague talks about making streams more fish friendly.
